Cuddle and Kind – Meet Isla the Mermaid

A few weeks ago, I decided to find a stuffed mermaid snuggle toy for Stella since she is so obsessed with mermaids. I spent hours online (with a glass of wine in hand) looking for the perfect mermaid that she would absolutely love. Finally, I came across Isla The Mermaid from Cuddle and Kind who is not only beautiful but has a mission of kindness and family. It truly resonated with me and I knew this was the doll I had to buy. These dolls are made by Cuddle and Kind who have designed an amazing company that gives back.  Therefore, I had to share her with you. For every doll they sell, they feed 10 children.  See more information about this incredible company below.

The Cuddle and Kind Story

When Jennifer and Derek Woodgate first learned about the devastating impact of childhood hunger around the world they felt compelled and inspired to act.  They founded Cuddle and Kind; a collection of hand knit, and might I say adorable, stuffed animals and dolls.  They partnered with the World Food Program USA as well as Children’s Hunger Fund and every doll sold provides ten nutritious meals to children in need.

Their goal is to provide one million meals a year.

“As a mother it troubles me that 66 million children attend school hungry everyday and that for many kids the school lunch might be the only meal they receive each day.  Giving meals to children helps them fight disease, develop cognitively, receive an education, perform better in school and break the cycle of poverty.  This is especially true of girls as studies have also shown that a woman’s education contributes to 43% of the reduction in child malnutrition over time.”

“These super cute dolls are made in Peru using natural high quality cotton.  They are hand knit by local women artisans, providing hundreds of jobs.  These jobs are helping the women who knit the dolls to fix their homes and communities as well as provide for their own children.  The dolls are designed for newborns and up, safety tested and machine washable (although they recommend to hand wash and lay flat).”

From the moment I laid eyes on Isla The Mermaid, I’m in love. I hope you find a special doll for someone in your life!
