I had to share with you about this resort, Golfo Dei Poeti, as it was quite possibly the best mistake I’ve ever made traveling. Let me explain. Before our trip to Paris last month, we decided to add in a little time by the ocean. We were planning to go to the French Riviera but then the tragic events in Nice, France happened (2 days before our trip), and we decided to change everything. Instead, we went to Cinque Terre, Italy. It is a place my husband and I have always wanted to go and I love everything about Italy! Given that it was last minute, I went online immediately to find the perfect hotel in the area so that we could explore. I checked out every site I could find and none of the hotels felt quite right to me. I even tried VRBO which, by the way, had some amazing places. Finally, the day before we left, I tried to calm down and look again. I’m not sure why, but all of a sudden I found Golfo Dei Poeti and instantly fell in love and booked it.
Here’s why it was the perfect mistake. Once we arrived in the Cinque Terre, we got a taxi to take us to our hotel. After 30 minutes we wondered where we were going and realized that we were now outside of the Cinque Terre and in a little town called Montemarcello. It was gorgeous and secluded and the town has only 4 restaurants. Turns out this place was heaven and we LOVED it. It was so gorgeous and relaxing, we didn’t want to leave. Everywhere I turned there was a view of the ocean.

I loved this little area right next to the resort! These angel wings are magical.
I’m not typically into breakfast, but with a view like this every morning and a buffet that was delicious, it was something to look forward to. They also made us custom omelettes and the best part was that they remembered our order each day and as soon as they saw us they started making them. Now that’s service at it’s finest.
All of the details were taken care of. This resort is so amazing they even have their own app which we used daily for hiking trails. Just steps from the resort (and down 700 stairs) is one of the most famous black sand beaches in all of Italy.
The next time you decide to visit Italy and the Cinque Terre, I hope you choose to stay at Golfo Dei Poeti as it truly is a gorgeous and luxurious resort!
