It’s always been fascinating to me how some women think that waxing is for special occasions only. You know, the times when they justify doing it for Valentine’s Day or their wedding day. However, I believe it should be something that is included in your beauty ritual on a regular basis. And by that I mean monthly, not just special occasions. In fact, I do it more for how I feel than how it looks for others. I know it can be an embarrassing topic for some and a breeze for others, but I thought it would be a great beauty routine to talk about. Believe it or not, I’ve had so many questions about waxing over the years, as some women have never even done it. They don’t know where to begin, how it works, why do it and every imaginable question as to why they postpone getting a waxing. So I have crafted a post to answer those questions and share my experience.
Why
First and foremost, we need to address the great old question of why. Why should you get a wax? Although before I answer, I’d like to ask the real question: why not? A 20-minute session that leaves you feeling beautiful and clean all month long versus consistently having to shave and endure razor burns is a pretty obvious choice to me. It’s a ritual that pays off in the long run and I promise you, once you get your first session done, you will be a convert girlfriend. No more razor burns on those bikini lines, no more stubbles and especially no more regretting that you forgot to shave on that unexpected hot date Saturday night. A full on Brazilian wax or for starters, just a regular bikini wax, is something you’ll soon find yourself adding to your calendar.
Getting it Done
Now that you’ve made up your mind that it’s time to go for it, you must find an expert waxer who makes the experience virtually painless. I recommend going with a referral. There’s nothing like someone who you trust vouching for a stranger to wax you down under. I’ve been to ladies who take a long time and it’s painful and I’ve been to ladies who are fast and easy. I prefer the latter. If you are particularly sensitive, it might be a good idea to take a couple of Motrin about an hour before the appointment so that it’s a little more enjoyable. Don’t worry, the more you get it done, the less your hair grows and the less it reappears in that area. Not only that, but the more often you go, the less painful it gets.
How Far Do You Go?
I always think this is an interesting question. Do you just have a little taken off the sides so you can’t see any hair when you are in a bikini? Or do you go all the way and do a full Brazilian wax? The answer to this question is totally on you. Some people love the look of being completely bare while others like a little landing strip. The good news is that whatever you choose, if you don’t like it, the hair will grow back and you can always make another choice next month. The final decision is up to you. So feel free to experiment to see what you like best.
Happy waxing!
Love the feeling after getting a wax, a little treat to myself =o) so true about not being only a special treat on certain holidays or events.
