One thing I really love is a great hair product. It seems to me that just by changing your products, you can change your entire style. For instance, if I put a little mousse in my thick hair, it will become poofy (think Dallas hair) and if I put a little straightening serum in my hair, I can get my hair perfectly straight. What I particularly love to do is mix and match products to create a more personalized look.
Lately I’ve been finding new hair products that I have to try. I love switching it up because it gives me the capability to completely transform my hair into a new look. Everyone loves to switch it up from time to time, right?
Back to the product – one of the hottest products on the market right now is OUAI Haircare. This line launched in April of this year by Jen Atkin, celebrity hairstylist who has a cult following. Think Rachel Zoe, the Kardashian girls and JLo. Her product is marketed as chic and luxurious, yet practical enough to get the job done. Oh and did I mention how AMAZING it smells. It will bring you back to a fabulous day at the beach.
I ordered the Wave Spray and the Finishing Creme to try out (as it’s so uber cool, you can’t buy it in Denver) and I’m happy to say that I love them both! I saw a video of Jen describing how best to use the Wave Spray and I was instantly intrigued. She recommends to spray it on wet hair and then put some metal clips in loosely. Every 6 inches or so to create natural loose waves.
From there, either let it dry naturally or use a blow dryer to achieve that perfect beachy wave without the curling iron. I can’t wait to try it this way. I’ve been loving the way these products smell like the beach. Each time I use them I’m taken back to an amazing vacation! I also love the finishing creme to put on my dry ends and to finish off my curls. It’s so lightweight that it keeps my curls looking fresh all day.
I randomly found this product online while I was searching for great hair tools for beachy waves. They pitched it as the perfect product for day two of curled hair, when you want to revamp your curls and minimize frizz. I have to say I am in love. I wash my hair twice a week, so I am always eager to try products that are optimal for days & three of styling, in between washes.
As I was thinking about these products last night, I came to the conclusion that hair products are like clothes. I mean this in the sense that everyone’s hair texture, length, waviness etc. is different and therefore each product will work differently on each person.
For instance, products like sea salt spray are usually a one day look for me, as it gets messy and crunchy. What do I do a day or two later without washing my hair? I realize that not everyone would have this question because not everyone has my hair type – so what do you do?
The only answer is you try, just like you try on clothing. Every person’s body is different and things fit differently. Until you try a new style, a new designer, a new fit, or a new hair product you don’t know what can happen to your appearance. You can get an expert opinion about how it could work for you all day long, but until you try it yourself, you will never fully know.
