Tote:  Although most women love their black tote, me included, spring is a great time to punch it up with a little color.  When you choose a color, choose one that will work with many things in your wardrobe.  If you are at all like me, I don’t love changing out my purse every time I get dressed.  I don’t mind changing it from time to time but I love a great staple.

This Rebecca Minkoff tote is a great spring purse as this blue shade is definitely a well coveted color for spring.  Although the color is a bit punchy, the style is very elegant with clean lines.  I also really love this pink Kate Spade, as it has a playful feel to it and will give every outfit that fun edge.

If you aren’t quite ready for that much color in a bag and want to stay more neutral for spring, go with a metallic shade or tan.  Don’t worry about matching your bag with your jewelry, you can always mix it up.

Crossbody:  Everyone needs a great cross body bag in their wardrobe!  This is a great alternative to the tote that we all swear isn’t really heavy.  It’s fabulous if you are running errands, traveling and need something light, or just going for an afternoon coffee.  Here are some I love.

Clutches: I think every woman needs a few of these in her wardrobe.  Clutches are great for a dinner out when you need to look great but don’t need to bring the kitchen sink with you.  On a side note, last week I was in Mexico and went to dinner with a friend and our families.  I was impressed that she was carrying a clutch given that she was escorted by her husband and two small boys (age 2 and 4).  She was excited to show me that she was using it as a diaper bag.  When she opened it, I kid you not,  it had a diaper and some wipes.  Therefore, absolutely anyone can carry a clutch.
