How to Keep Yourself Motivated During Hard Times

Sometimes there are days when things just don’t seem to go our way and we hit a wall. It’s moments like this that we really need to keep pushing through and keep in mind our end goal. It’s not easy, but when we are facing difficult times, we have to keep our heads high and continue moving forward. Look for ways to be positive and you’ll accomplish your goals. I know it can be frustrating, I’ve had my fair share, but I’ve learned little tips and tricks to not let negativity affect me. Here are my BEST tips on how to keep yourself motivated during hard times:

Be grateful

Even during hard times, be grateful. Look at all the good things in your life despite the difficulties that are blocking you from achieving your goals. By focusing on the positive along with what you already have and not about what you don’t have, you will be more motivated. You will be less inclined to dwell on the negativity and look forward to new positive things that can happen to you.

Take control of what you can and stop worring about what you can’t

There are things in life that we can control and things we cannot control. Being caught up in the things we cannot control will only frustrate us. By putting our energy into what we can control, which is our actions and our thoughts, we will accomplish much more. You will realize that you have the power to change your current situation. You have the ability to push past the hard times and accomplish what you have set for yourself.

Think positive and be positive

If you’ve ever read Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret, you know that your thoughts are powerful. What you think of in your mind (constantly) has a big impact on what happens to your life. So think positive and be positive. Every morning, say positive affirmations that will start your day off right. That way you are sending good energy to the universe which will then help manifest circumstances that are favorable to you. Always look at the bright side no matter what. Looking at the negative only brings in bad energy so always make sure to consciously be aware of what goes on in your mind.


Celebrate every accomplishment, whether it be small or big. When you reward yourself for achieving a task or a goal, you are more likely to be motivated than when you don’t pat yourself on the back. Positive reinforcements is always something to look forward to. When you’re in a slump, remember the feelings of celebrating your accomplishments. Harness that feeling and take on the obstacles that maybe hindering you.


Sometimes, the best remedy for hard times is taking a moment to yourself and meditating. When we face hard times our emotions are like a rollercoaster and our minds run a million miles a minute trying to find solutions to fix our situations. However, instead of running around frenzied trying to find the best way to solve the issue, all we need is some quiet time. I’ve been meditating for quite a while now and I can guarantee you it has helped me in my hard times. Having a moment of silence has really given me peace and clarity.
