Style Icon

Young or old, you can be an amazing style icon and inspire girls of all ages!  Take these two for example.   Here is my youngest style icon, Stella (my daughter) who is just 2 1/2.  She loves to pick out her own clothes every morning and what she comes up with is amazing.  Often times she’ll tell me what she wants to wear and I get a little frightened and tell her gently that “sweetie, I don’t think that will look very good together.”  She will then insist on why it is the perfect outfit and it will match!  Nine times out of ten, she surprises me and is completely right, the outfit matches and looks perfect.  I think she is channelling another style icon, Iris Apfel.

 

Here is a fabulous picture of Iris Apfel from her HSN line.  This woman is 93 years-old and still one of the most stylish and iconic women today.  I love that she was interviewed in InStyle magazine this month (May edition) and said “sometimes I look in the mirror and I say, ‘Yuck!’ But when I get it right, it’s like wearing a suit of armor.”  I think we can all relate to that.  It does take a little extra time but that extra time can make a huge difference everyday and who doesn’t want to wear a suit of armor so that no one and nothing can mess with you?
