The Phoenician Resort – Scottsdale

We just had the pleasure of staying at The Phoenician Resort while we were in Scottsdale for our 8 year anniversary. It’s been a long time since I was there last (over 15 years I think) and I still vividly remember how amazing their meditation garden was. This was the perfect resort for us for Labor Day Weekend.

FEATURES

When we first arrived we attended The Flight of the Phoenix show which was a great way to start our memorable weekend. Here’s a video I took.

When we got to our room, it was gorgeous with a great view of the pool and mountains. I loved the spacious bathroom with double vanities and a large bath tub. It made getting ready fun.

Pools – Given it was 100 degrees out, we spent a lot of time by the pool and loved how attentive the staff was bringing us towels, drinks, cold water with ice, etc. I truly never had the experience that it was that hot out. Mind you, I didn’t lay in the sun very long. They also have an amazing kids water park.  On our last day, we had Stella and her cousin Sierra come join us for some fun before we flew back home. She still talks about how much fun it was to have buckets dump on her head!

Cactus Gardens-

This garden was amazing with 250 varieties of cacti and succulents. I was amazing how many were from other countries.

Another amazing benefit is that the resort is located on the backside of Camelback Mountain. We woke up early on Saturday to hike the mountain. I used to hike it when I lived in Phoenix over 19 years ago. I didn’t remember it being that hard but on the other hand, I was 20 last time I did it. Funny how aging sneaks up on us. This definitely started our day off right by getting our blood pumping.

The resort has amazing activities. This particular weekend they had a boardwalk theme fair on the property for families. It included food carts, live music, climbing walls, face painting and much more. What a great way to celebrate the holiday for families. Even though we didn’t have Stella with us, we checked it out and had fun watching all the kids have a blast.

I loved that they have a movie night at the pool. Every night they brought the huge screen out so kids could swim and watch a movie. One night we got back from dinner early and I went down to the lawn to watch the movie and stayed after it was over to enjoy the beautiful blue sky filled with stars. It was my idea of camping. A gorgeous resort to sleep in but still enjoying the outdoors.

RESTAURANTS

Breakfast daily is at Il Terrazzo. It was delicious. I was surprised and delighted that they had mini green drinks and smoothies. What a great way to start each day!

We also had dinner at Il Terrazzo which was surprisingly amazing. It’s their version of an Italian restaurant but didn’t have many Italian dishes on the menu. When we ordered our dinners from the menu we both thought, that sounds good, but when we tasted it, it was so much better than we expected. We loved dining on their patio overlooking the pool and had the experience of dining alone.

J&G Steakhouse – This steakhouse is everything they boast it is. It has an amazing view of the valley, fantastic food and wine! Truly a wow experience.
