It’s that time of year when everyone is planning a trip to the beach. It’s amazing how many clients I have that are doing their vacation prep for Mexico, Hawaii or the Virgin Islands this month and next. I thought I’d give you my top vacation prep tips.
1. The most important thing to wear is sunscreen especially on your face!
2. Find at least one (I recommend 2-3) swimsuit that flatters your figure and you feel good in. This is your time to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect. Therefore it’s most important to love how you look so that you can get your attention off of it to enjoy the trip. There is nothing worse than going on vacation and worrying about how you look in a swimsuit.
3. Dresses – Short ones, maxi ones, form fitting ones, ones that flow or whatever else you like but bring many. These are perfect because you can wear them on an outing, walking around town, and even to dinner. Dresses take up little space in the suitcase but give a lot of punch. They are amazing because with the right jewelry, you can dress (no pun intended) them up or down. You can also throw a light sweater or jean jacket on when it gets crisp out.

4. Linen pants – I love wearing linen pants anytime I’m at the beach. They are fabulous because you can throw on a basic fitted tee or a cute colorful tank. They are lightweight, breathable, and you can wear them when it’s 100 degrees or 70. Pair them with a pair of sandals for a daytime or put on a pair of hot heels for nighttime. Just know that they won’t last you all day/night, as part of their charm is they wrinkle a lot.

5. Shoes – I’m a true believer that you must have the right shoes on vacation.
- A great flip flop for the beach/pool.
- A fabulous flat sandal for walking around the town.
- A workout shoe for the gym, long walks, or active excursions, etc.
- An amazing heel for dinners out.
- A wedge because you can’t go wrong with a wedge.

5. Hair – Now this depends on your hair but if you have even slightly wavy or curly hair, it’s a hassle. Whenever I’m in a humid environment, my hair goes crazy. Here are a few things I do to cope, wear it up in a cool braid or slicked back pony or go with the curl and use a sea salt spray on your hair.

Happy vacationing.
